ALEXANDRIA – Funeral services for Mr. Gregory Carl Willis will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Winnfield Funeral Home in Alexandria with Reverend Greg Texada officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 12, 2019 from 2:00 p.m-5:00 p.m., at Winnfield Funeral Home and will resume at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2019. Interment will take place at New Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Atlanta, Louisiana. Mr. Willis, age 55, of Alexandria, passed away on July 7, 2019 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Ida Lee Monette Jackson Willis and the late William M. Willis. Following the Christian footsteps of his parents, Greg professed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age. In March 2015, Brother Willis joined the fellowship of The Word Christian Center in Alexandria, under the leadership of Pastor Greg Texada. Greg received his formal education from the public schools in Rapides Parish (Pineville High School). He enhanced his education by attending Grambling State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science in 1990. With grace and determination, Greg continued his educational training at Grambling State University where he graduated with a Master of Public Administration degree in 1993. Additional post-graduate studies were completed at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Mr. Willis' professional career included tenures at CHRISTUS Saint Frances Cabrini Hospital, Westside Habilitation Center, CLECO Corporation, and Central Louisiana Technical Community College in the area of human resources. He also served as an adjunct faculty member at Upper Iowa University (Alexandria Campus). Mourning his departure but celebrating his precious memories are one (1) son, Gregory Carl Willis II of Alexandria, Louisiana; one (1) brother, Jeffery Willis (Dionne) of Anchorage, Alaska; one (1) sister, Lisa Willis of Pineville, Louisiana; one (1) nephew, William Willis II; one (1) niece, Victoria Willis; six (6) maternal aunts, Palzetta Beard (Lonnie) of Natchitoches, Louisiana, Frances Hollingsworth of Lake Saint Louis, Missouri, Johnnie Mae Jackson, DeWanna Jackson, and Dianetta Jackson, all of Montgomery, Louisiana, and Patrice Jackson of Houston, Texas; one (1) paternal aunt, Bernadine Peters of Winnfield, Louisiana; one (1) maternal uncle, John C. Jackson (Cecile) of Houston, Texas; two (2) paternal uncles, Lawrence Willis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Leroy Willis, Jr., of Atlanta, Louisiana; and a host of extended family members and friends.
