Majorie B. Lawson (Margie) was born to the late Ed Boose and Floria Boose on April 24, 1936, in Alexandria, Louisiana. She peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on January 4, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Isaiah J. Lawson, Jr. Her parents, Ed & Floria Boose, sisters Mytel Nelson & Johnetta Boose Burns and Brother Howard Johnson.
Margie as she was affectionately known by many accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age attending True Vine Missionary Baptist Church. She later joined Bethel A.M.E. Church where she was a dedicated member for over 60 years. Majorie (Margie) graduated from Cohen High School in New Orleans, Louisiana and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from her beloved Southern University. Margie was an educator for the Rapides Parish School System for 40 Years. She taught First and Second Grades at Silver City Elementary (later remain W.O. Hall), Aaron Street Elementary School and Martin Park Elementary School, where she was one of the first African American educators to integrate the Rapides Parish School System. Margie along with other forward-thinking women brought Jack and Jill of America to the Alexandria area. Margie and these women are known as the charter members of the Alexandria Chapter.
Margie leaves to cherish her memories her son, Isaiah Joseph Lawson III (Pamela) of Ashburn, Va. Two grandchildren, Tanika Daniels (Rich) of Arlington Texas, and Jason Blackwell of Alexandria. Seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. One niece, Liqusha-Sabastian Burns, one great niece Brittnay Burns and a host of family and devoted friends.
