Mary Lee Woods Bayone was born September 13,1929 in Colfax, Louisiana. She went to be with the Lord on February 2, 2022. She was 92 years old at the time of her passing and she was a resident of Alexandria, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jenkins B. Woods, Sr, and Leanna Cunningham Woods, her husband Edwin Sr., Edwin Jr., Oliver Bayone, and Benjamin Bayone, Sr. She is survived by her brother, Jenkins (J.B.) Woods, her sister, Loenna (Missy) Woods, her children, Hebert Bayone, Allen Paul Bayone, Eunice Ross, Emily Jo Mayes, Carolyn London (James), Huey Richards, Sr. (Sandra), Jason Woods (Tracee), Rosemary Simmons (Sylvester), Janice Desselle (Howard), her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, her great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary Lee Woods Bayone was born September 13, 1929 to Jenkins B. Woods, Sr, and Leanna Cunningham Woods. She grew up in Coifax, Louisiana and graduated from Mary E. Graham High School. After graduating high school, she went to Gambling State University and studied nursing. Shortly after, she met Edwin Bayone, Sr. and the couple wed. The couple had five children before Edwin was tragically killed in a factory accident and Mary Lee was widowed. Many women would have felt defeated but not Mary Lee. She worked diligently to care for her children and bought her own home in January 1969. Her family was one of the first black families in her neighborhood. This work ethic was passed to her children.
