We want to make families aware of a nationwide scam that has unfortunately impacted funeral homes—including cases reported here in Louisiana.
In this scam, individuals pose as funeral home representatives and contact the families of the deceased, often requesting payment or personal information under false pretenses. They may claim that services cannot proceed without immediate action or payment.
If you receive a suspicious call from someone claiming to represent Winnfield Funeral Home, please keep the following in mind:
- Do not provide any payment or share sensitive information such as credit card numbers, banking details, Social Security numbers, or birth dates.
- End the call and contact us directly using a trusted phone number to verify any information.
- If something feels off, you are under no obligation to continue the call—feel free to hang up without explanation.
